Hello... Welcome to my Blog!
This is my first day at blogging. Hope you will join me in my journey.
My Beading History...
While vacationing at Laguna Beach in California one summer, many years ago, I got summoned to make some leather/suede clothing for the Sawdust Festival at my friends booth. We rented a home on the beach for the summer between 2 bead stores. That is when I acquired the Bead Bug.
I travel quite a bit so my bead collection grows. I drove my family a bit crazy with my book that never left my side while on the road. It showed where every bead store in the US was located. My family was kind enough to wait for me while I spent hours searching for unique beads. They love me. :)
My Sewing History....
I have been sewing for over 50 years. My mother was a master seamstress and taught me to sew at a very young age. I still have my first sewing machine. Its just a hand crank, child's one but still works!
My friend, Emily and I were making jewelry for the Thursday night street fair in Palm Springs. While shopping in our local Bead Shop that also sold fabric for quilts, Emily mentioned she would like to take a quilt class but did not know how to sew. After a few days of helping her with a straight stitch we signed up for class. After many workshops together, we both have mastered the skill of quilting and she is now teaching quilt design classes. Every member of my family each has their very own quilt. Husband, Children, Mom, Sister, Brothers, Nephews, Nieces, Aunts and friends included all have been gifted with my warmest blessing...a handmade quilt.
I still sew my own clothes from time but my favorite thing to make would be costumes. After taking up Tribal Style BellyDance I found my niche and created a few for myself as well as for others.
Today I took some time off from designing to bake some granola. Somehow got on an oatmeal kick after reading about its benefits. Trying to eat healthier in this New Year.
Forgot to use my non-stick pan so it took a while to blast it off after cooking. :(
Stop back tomorrow. I will be posting photos of my new design with natural gemstone beads. I love working with stones in my healing modalities and thought it would be a good idea to incorporate them into jewelry as well. Read more about it on my Etsy page at: www.ravencrowdesigns.etsy.com to see my most recent creations.
Thanks for stopping by!
